About the Project

The project is a joint effort between HEIA‑FR, WAB, FHWN, and Syngenta to develop a new bead‑reactor technology based on Dyno®‑mill systems for solvent‑free, sustainable chemical manufacturing. The aim is to establish advanced metrics, generate datasets for predictive scale‑up models, and create a reproducible workflow that transfers laboratory mechanochemical transformations to industrial scale for fine‑chemical production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Benchmark representative mechanochemical transformations and industrially relevant targets
  • Run design‑of‑experiments campaigns on Dyno®‑mill technology
  • Characterise products and map process parameters to critical quality attributes
  • Contribute to predictive modelling and identify scale‑invariant parameters
  • Scale up to pilot plant with industrial partner, verifying robustness
  • Consolidate results in a standardised scale‑transfer workflow and guidelines
  • Interact with consortium, present at conferences, uphold lab safety

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research involving synthesis, process development, and chemical engineering
  • Ability to conduct cutting‑edge R&D with initiative and creativity
  • Rigorous, autonomous, well‑organized experimental work with careful data documentation
  • Enthusiasm, resourcefulness, teamwork, and problem‑solving mindset
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills

Who Should Apply

Candidates holding a master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, with experience in organic synthesis, who are motivated to work on interdisciplinary mechanochemical research, possess strong problem‑solving skills, can work autonomously and in teams, and have excellent English communication (basic French or German is a plus).
