About the Project

The project is part of the ExHAT (Exploration of Heavy Hadrons at Thresholds) within the DEMOS and HADRON 2030 initiatives. It aims to study heavy exotic hadrons, such as the doubly charmed tetraquark Tcc(3875)+, using LHCb data and inclusive production studies with ALICE. Tasks include advanced data selection, construction and analytic continuation of coupled‑channel scattering amplitudes, and serialization of complex amplitudes in the DEMOS format, in close collaboration with international experimental and theory groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced methods of data selection, efficiency and resolution studies within LHCb data analysis
  • Construct, fit and analytically continue coupled‑channel scattering amplitudes
  • Decipher and serialize complex amplitudes in the DEMOS/amplitude‑serialization format
  • Collaborate within the DEMOS and HADRON 2030 networks
  • Exchange with experimental collaborations (LHCb, BESIII, Belle II, GlueX, …) and EFT/lattice QCD groups

Required Skills

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in physics
  • Background in experimental particle physics or hadron physics
  • Familiarity with quantum field theory and scattering theory
  • Scientific programming skills in Julia, Python or C++
  • Experience with version control and reproducible workflows
  • Very good command of written and spoken English
  • Interest in interfacing theory and experiment and open research software

Who Should Apply

Applicants with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, experience in experimental particle or hadron physics, familiarity with quantum field and scattering theory, solid programming skills (Julia, Python or C++), and very good written and spoken English should apply.

Benefits

  • Employment at one of Germany's largest universities within the University Alliance Ruhr
