About the Project

The project aims to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms connecting fatty acid synthesis and iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster biogenesis in prokaryotes through in vitro reconstitution of the prokaryotic ISC machinery alongside biochemical and biophysical investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Purify proteins and reconstitute protein complexes under anaerobic conditions
  • Prepare and analyse samples using biochemical, enzymatic, and biophysical techniques
  • Investigate protein kinetics, protein-protein interactions, and structural modifications
  • Conduct experiments using UV-visible spectroscopy and circular dichroism (CD)
  • Apply isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and biolayer interferometry (BLI)
  • Use FIDA technology, mass spectrometry, and NMR for sample analysis
  • Contribute to the investigation of the molecular mechanisms connecting fatty acid synthesis with Fe-S cluster biogenesis

Required Skills

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Strong background in biochemistry and/or biophysics
  • Experience in protein purification (desirable)
  • Knowledge or experience involving metalloproteins (appreciated)
  • Experience with structural and spectroscopic methods (advantageous)
