About the Project

The faculty member is expected to contribute to medical education research. This involves activities such as case review, case-writing, case-enhancement, item writing for exams, and faculty development, all within the context of improving medical education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach physiology and/or biochemistry content
  • Facilitate in-person small groups of problem-based learning (PBL)
  • Provide large group lectures
  • Cover faculty duties in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant program, and the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences
  • Be available to answer students' questions in content areas of expertise
  • Complete mid-block (formative) and end-of-block (summative) student evaluations
  • Ensure all evaluations are executed using the specified template
  • Contribute to case review, case-writing, case-enhancement, and item writing for exams
  • Participate in training for PBL and ongoing faculty development programs
  • Ensure support for student learning through collaboration with the Center for Student Success (CSS) and/or Office of Faculty Development
  • Know curriculum policies and procedures related to pre-clerkship delivery
  • Participate in academic committees as assigned
  • Schedule vacations during students' time off in winter, spring, and summer whenever possible
  • Provide prior notification for conferences or vacation to arrange a substitute
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Medical Education and Scholarship
