The IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Computational Social Science, starting January 2027. The role is part of the Horizon‑funded FEMVision project, which investigates online visual misogyny by developing and validating a multimodal large language model classifier, performing semantic clustering, and analysing user reactions across platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with Associate Professor Luca Rossi, contribute to computational analysis, and engage with social media data. Applicants must hold a PhD, have experience with computational social science methods, LLMs, and preferably social media data collection. Salary follows the Danish Ministry of Taxation agreement. The FEMVision project, funded by Horizon, examines how misogyny spreads through images and memes in digital spaces. It aims to create a multimodal large language model classifier to detect visual misogyny, benchmark it against expert coders, and use the classifier to cluster visual content, map thematic repertoires, and study user reactions and negotiations with misogynistic material across platforms.
Candidates with a PhD who have experience in computational social science, especially using large language models for data annotation and validation, and who are familiar with social media data collection will be strong applicants. Those who can contribute to the FEMVision project’s analysis of visual misogyny and are comfortable working in an international, interdisciplinary environment are encouraged to apply.
IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) conducts interdisciplinary research through dynamic groups, centers, hubs and labs that address challenges at the intersection of people, technology and society. The university promotes international partnerships, a diverse faculty from over 20 countries, and an informal, innovative work environment.
